That’s a good question. What would you do? Pack it in? Send them back to school ’til it’s over (I’ll admit, the thought crossed my mind, albeit very briefly)? Well, I guess that depends on each individual circumstance.
We have been renovating for the last two years. First our bathroom, then our kitchen. We didn’t really lose much ground during the bathroom reno, but the kitchen reno took exactly a year from start to finish. We live in a small space, so it’s been interesting to say the least. We have been without running water, electricity, appliances, and even a floor at various points of the reno, but we managed to continue our homeschooling. The really terrible “get me outta here” stuff was done during the summer, so we didn’t need to be concerned about not having a kitchen table to do school work. But that’s only three months out of the twelve. How did we manage during the other 9 months of construction? Well, very creatively, but we did it as you can see in some of the pics. It’s all a blur now. The end result is that I now have a perfectly functioning kitchen for our home school. There is a place for everything, and everything in it’s place. It was worth the sacrifice.
